Mazda vehicles are known for being some of the most well-rounded automobiles on the market. Not only are they attractive, powerful, and fuel-efficient, but they're also available at highly reasonable prices.
Interested in buying a vehicle currently? Looking for a hatchback in particular? If so, Mazda deserves your attention.
There are a number of Mazda hatchback models, all of which have something unique to offer. Learn more about these by reading below.
The one remaining hatchback in Mazda's lineup is the Mazda 3. This was first released in 2004, and sports arguably the classiest of all Mazda hatchback aesthetics.
From the front, it looks like a typical sedan, featuring an array of sleek curves and contours. The hatchback isn't noticeable until you lay your eyes on it. It's discreetly tucked into the rear part of the vehicle.
Nonetheless, it still offers a good deal of cargo space. Its trunk sports 20.1 cubic feet of cargo space, in particular, making it around average among other hatchbacks.
As far as performance goes, the Mazda3 might just be the best hatchback on the market today. It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission, allowing for seamless acceleration. It also offers two engine options, 1 of which provides 191 horsepower and the other of which provides 250 horsepower.
Looking for good fuel efficiency? Look no more. The 2024 Mazda3 gets 36 miles to the gallon on the highway and 26 miles to the gallon in the city.
Its interior offers plenty of legroom, not to mention headroom. It sports 5 seats in total.
All in all, this is a terrific vehicle. It's available in 7 different trims. These range from around $23,500 to around $36,000.
The most basic of the Mazda 3 Hatchbacks is the 2.5 S. This has an MSRP price of around $23,550, which is downright reasonable for a hatchback of its look and functionality.
It's stocked with a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine and produces up to 191 horsepower. Featuring a 6-speed automatic transmission, it seamlessly shifts from gear to gear as the vehicle accelerates and decelerates.
It features LED headlights, not to mention lane-keep assist. While the 2023 model has not yet been rated for safety, the 2022 model was a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. There's no reason to believe anything will change with this model.
As far as fuel efficiency goes, this gets 36 miles to the gallon on the highway and 26 miles to the gallon in the city. This is towards the top of the fuel efficiency totem pole.
All in all, this is a terrific hatchback, especially for those buying on a budget. It doesn't have a lot of frills, but easily gets the job done.
The 2.5 S Select is similar to the 2.5 S. However, it has some additional and beneficial features.
One of these features includes 18-inch alloy wheels. This is two inches bigger than what the 2.5 S has. This makes a positive difference in terms of control and handling.
Another added feature is dual-zone climate control. Whereas the 2.5 S offers just one temperature setting for the entire car, the Select offers one setting for the front and one for the back.
The next additional feature is leather upholstery. The 2.5 S possesses cloth upholstery.
The Select also has blind-spot monitoring, something that the 2.5 doesn't possess. So, in other words, it's a little safer.
Up next is the 2.5 S Preferred. This contains all of what the Select has, plus a few more additions.
One of these additions is a moon roof. This is opened and closed with the use of a button.
Another addition is illuminated vanity mirrors. If you like to do your makeup in the car, this might be beneficial to you.
It also possesses heated front seats, not to mention an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat. This is in addition to memory positioning side mirrors.
The 2.5 S Carbon Edition is a step up from the Preferred. It offers a variety of additional features, not to mention a number of optional choices.
For instance, you have the choice to buy the Carbon Edition with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Regardless of which you choose, you'll get the same fuel efficiency as discussed above.
Other features include black side mirrors, a black grille, black alloy wheels, an adaptive front lighting system, and a Bose 12-speaker sound system.
The Premium edition is next up the ladder. It offers everything the Carbon Edition offers, plus a variety of other features.
It's available with either a manual or automatic transmission. It also comes with your choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
In addition, it offers SiriusXM satellite radio, a built-in navigation system, paddle shifters, traffic sign recognition technology, and a head-up display.
The 2.5 S Turbo is a step up from the Premium. That said, it only comes with all-wheel drive, and only with an automatic transmission. It features a 2.5-liter turbo engine, in particular, and thus can produce up to 250 horsepower.
Some of its other features include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, and a windshield wiper de-icer.
If you want a fast and sporty hatchback, this is the one for you. It goes from 0 to 60 in under six seconds, making it one of the fastest hatchbacks on the market today.
We'll round out this list with the 2.5 S Turbo Premium Plus. This is the most expensive of the 2023 Mazda 3 hatchbacks, coming in at $35,300.
It offers everything that the Turbo offers, plus a surround-view camera system, perforated leather seats, traffic jam assist, a rear spoiler, and a cross-traffic alert with smart braking.
And there they are, all of the 2023 Mazda hatchback models. As you can see, you have a variety of Mazda3 Hatchbacks to choose from.
